What is Respite?
Respite provides short-term care and supervision for the child to provide relief for the parents or caregivers. It may take place in the child’s home or in the community.
Who Receives Respite?
Children of all ages can typically receive respite. Some young adults may also qualify.
The AZA Approach
AZA United strives to provide high quality respite care providers so that families feel comfortable leaving their child in the care of another person.
Funding Options
Respite services are authorized by the Arizona Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD). The maximum annual approval for respite is typically 600 hours. To be eligible for funding, families must be approved through Arizona Long Term Care Services (ALTCS). We have a Family Support Team here at AZA that is available to assist families at no cost through the process of applying for ALTCS eligibility and requesting services through DDD.
